Partnering with us: Neighbours is a Non-profit organisation that was started in 2012 when the Branken family moved into Hillbrow to stand in solidarity as neighbours to those most marginalised in South Africa. The phrase they try to live out is “we are becoming good friends to our neighbours and then good neighbours to our friends”.

As we continue our work in the Johannesburg area, our focus has evolved to empower activists and support them on their journeys. While we still maintain our foundational values, our direct community involvement has shifted:

1. Empowering Activists: Our primary goal is now to support activists, providing them with the tools and resources they need to effect positive change in their respective areas.
   
2. Advocacy and Values: We remain steadfast in our commitment to climate resilience, exploring eco-farming methods. Our advocacy work now intensifies on fighting xenophobia, homophobia, racism, and patriarchy, aligning with our core values of social solidarity and simplicity.
   
3. Church Engagement: Our work with churches focuses on supporting them in their community outreach and social justice efforts.
   
4. Networking: We're dedicated to strengthening our networks within the activist community, enhancing collaboration and collective impact.
   
5. Support for Artists: A new venture for us is the launch of a social enterprise to support local artists. This initiative aims to provide artists with sustainable revenue streams, enabling them to thrive and contribute to the city's cultural landscape.
